World Deaf Surfing Championships go off at Queen's Beach

Surfersvillage Global Surf News, 14 July, 2009 : - - 70 surfers from across the globe hit the waves in Waikiki this weekend. They were taking part in the World Deaf Surfing Championships at Queen's Beach.

Hearing-impaired surfers flew in from countries like Brazil, Ireland, Uruguay and Australia to participate. Although the waves were only knee-high, they were still able to have a good time.

"When they see the beach, they feel refreshed, they see the ocean they feel relaxed, especially in Hawaii it's really good," Tatsuro Ota, OTA Surf House owner said.  "The aloha spirit is here, and I am very proud to be a part of all of it," Ido Dat-El, Surfer from Israel said.
